Thinking of going abroad? The idea is an exhilarating one: new people, new culture, new languages, new…everything. Of course with all the excitement comes some anxiety of the unknown, especially if it is your first time abroad. Fortunately, there are resources like ViaSpanish that can help you work through the unknown! We give you options for the highest quality study options in each of our destinations, which helps our ViaSpanish students plan all the details of their study abroad or travel plans and oftentimes some of the best experiences of their life.
ViaSpanish strives to give each individual the personal attention they ask for and more, ensuring students feel secure and settled in a new location and can thoroughly enjoy their trip abroad. In other words, we do much, much more for our students than the average agency by being there for you from your first contact to your last day of class. Here are three common sources of hesitance before going abroad and how ViaSpanish can cover you throughout your trip:
Housing: Where will I stay?
ViaSpanish offers a variety of accommodations, each depending upon location. Homestays, student flats, private apartments, hostels and hotels are some of the options we can set you up with. We know housing can make or break a trip abroad, and we do our best to ensure your comfort in your living situation.
Academics: Am I really going to learn anything?
All of our partner schools in Latin America and Spain make sure you are given a well-rounded opportunity to learn Spanish and learn it well. Native certified teachers make sure you can learn everything from the grammatical nitty gritty to commonly used expressions, providing complete and rapid tools to aid your comprehension. You also have the option of group or individual courses, individual private lessons or tutoring, or a combination of it all. Some of our institutions even offer Business Spanish courses or the Spanish as a Foreign Language Diploma (DELE). In other words, just tell us how you learn best, and if you don’t know…don’t worry, because our quality team of Student Advisors will help you figure it out.
Culture: …Shock?
This one gets tricky because each person deals with the cultural change in a different way—but here’s how we help. At ViaSpanish, we strongly encourage not only linguistic immersion in your new location, but social and cultural immersion as well. As a mixed group of expats and locals ourselves, we realize that assimilating to a new culture can sometimes be difficult, so we do our best to make sure you are comfortable and prepared from the beginning. You will be offered school-organized student excursions to new and beautiful landscapes, which help you eliminate a good amount of guesswork that comes with trips to new places. Friendly school staff can assist you with any questions about the area: where the supermarket is, which are the good restaurants, how to catch the bus, etc. Student activities during the week keep you out and about in the local community with an animated social life. And don’t forget that other students will likely be having a lot of similar feelings and apprehensions as you may, and are often the best sources of support.

Don’t miss out on a fabulous experience—Let ViaSpanish assist you in your study abroad plans and help you feel like you’re covered. If you still have more questions, we are happy to give you the answers!

Located in the southwest of Europe, Spain is the second largest county in Europe. Mainland Spain shares borders with the countries of Portugal, Andorra and France, but also claims such famous tourist destinations as the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, and two autonomous cities in Africa that border Morocco, Ceuta and Melilla.
The official language of Spain is Castilian Spanish, known as castellano, which is spoken throughout the country and serves as a basis for the Spanish spoken in most of Latin America. Spain also has co-official languages, which are spoken regionally, such as Catalan, Galician and Basque. There are about 45 million inhabitants in the country and the capital of Spain, Madrid, is the largest city in the country, with a population of approximately 6 million. The population has grown very fast during the recent years, mostly due to numerous immigrants from Latin America and Europe.
The combination of plateaus, rivers, the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, all provide a diverse climate and cultural regions in each area of Spain, making it possible to enjoy warm summers, cozy winters, and everything in between. Also thanks to these diverse landscapes, there are load of things to do in Spain. The mountains are perfect for skiing and hiking, and the Mediterranean beaches offer everything one can imagine, from sunbathing to diving and sailing. The big cities have much to offer as well, from beautiful architecture to creative masterpieces from world renowned artists such as flamenco dancing, paintings, music or acting.
